1. What exactly does the ticket cover?
- Every ride or exhibit, or only entry.
- A set date and time slot, or an open-dated ticket.
2. Who counts as a child or family?
Age bands and family ticket definitions vary. Check how many adults and children the ticket covers and how the child age range is defined.
3. Look for extras
Add these to the ticket price to see the true cost.
- Booking or transaction fees.
- Parking.
- Audio guides or special exhibitions charged separately.
- Food and drink if you cannot bring your own.
4. Compare peak and off-peak
Weekends and school holidays are often more expensive or sell out. A weekday or off-peak visit can cost less and be quieter.
5. Understand the cancellation rules
Leisure tickets for a specific date are often not covered by the usual 14-day cancellation right. Check the venue’s own cancellation, refund and rebooking terms, especially if the weather or your plans could change.
6. Check two-for-one and voucher conditions
These offers often require a qualifying purchase such as a rail ticket, specific dates, or booking in advance.
7. Check opening times and closures
Attractions can close for maintenance, events or seasonal changes. Look at the venue’s website on the day before you travel.
